Human Language Technologies Initiative for South Africa
An Advisory Panel on Human Language Technologies has been appointed by
Dr BS Ngubane, Minister of Arts, Culture, Science and echnology (DACST),
following the acceptance of recommendations made by the Joint Steering
Committee established by the National Language Service (NLS) and the PANSALB
Translation and Interpreting subcommittee in its document: The Development
of Human Language Technologies in South Africa: Strategic Planning.

The Human Language Technologies Initiative for South Africa was officially
launched in Pretoria on 8 November 2001. Two members of the SIG Steering
Committee, namely Prof. Justus Roux and Prof. Sonja Bosch have been appointed
to the above mentioned Advisory Panel of DACST.
